As part of the continual refurbishment of the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, the Viceroy Suite located on the first floor was rebuilt.
A new roof was placed above the existing function suite at an existing parapet level. This allowed the existing room to be used while that work was on going. By doing so, this meant that the room only had to close for the shortest possible time (only 4 weeks).
Following removal of the existing roof, the room was extended up into the new volume. A large window was inserted into the exterior wall and a new roof terrace with level access was formed above existing ground floor toilets.
This has created a new tall, bright and airy space, with contemporary decor, with a capacity of about 100 people. There is a direct link to the external space, meaning that users do not have to be separated when they wish to go outside.
Total operations on site lasted for only 12 weeks.
