The residential care home is purpose designed for people with learning disabilities. The project is designed for Helm Housing Association who provided and manage the home for Newry and Mourne Health Trust.
The building houses 12 residents organized in 3 clusters of 4 bedrooms, each with its own kitchen and lounge. This divides the scheme up into much smaller units helping the management and security of the building, but importantly giving the residents an identifiable ”house” of their own.
Ancillary spaces provided for the social and occupational care of the residents are provided.
The clusters all have access to private and secure gardens, while on a whole the building is designed so that appropriate levels security is provided with the minimum level of intrusion.
