Anam Cara is an Alzheimer's Centre with Residential Care Home, 2 Day Care Centres, and Local Health Care Centre. The project has been designed for Fold Ireland who are working in partnership with the HSE and the DOE in Ireland.

The building includes 56 supported units designed as self contained apartments using the concept of living with care for frail elderly people and those diagnosed with dementia and is connected by covered link to an existing nursing home.

The scheme was planned as a group of small scale buildings all connected by glazed links arranged around courtyards. This breaks up the mass of the large building and provides individual identities differing elements of the building.

The two Day Care centres are designed for the same user groups. The centres are connected to the house but are accessed to provide its own identity. The internal link to the rest of the accommodation encourages social interaction between users and residents. Both of the centres will be managed by Fold Ireland.

The design and development process involved bringing together Fold, HSE, Dublin City Council, and the DOE (RoI) and the understanding resolution of all of their needs.
